Ample south facing windows allow the sun to enter and heat the house in the fall, winter and spring, while the hot summer sun gets shaded out by the large overhangs.The mass of insulated concrete basement, log walls and concrete floor function as a heat sink and moderate the temperature fluctuations throughout the day.
